What is a Zone

Created by Jean Van der Merwe, Modified on Mon, 9 Feb at 11:57 AM by Jean Van der Merwe

A Zone is a term used to refer to an area, place, or object an alarm sensor is placed on or in to monitor activity.

These sensors include, but are not limited to:

  • Magnetic reed switches on doors and windows
  • PIR (Passive Infra-Red) motion sensors
  • External or internal beams

When these sensors are triggered, a Zone is said to be active. If the alarm is armed and a Zone becomes active, the alarm system will trigger. A Zone's status can be monitored in the security app. Learn more about zone statuses here.

Zones can be bypassed so that they do not trigger the alarm if they become active. A zone can also be bypassed from the security app. Learn more about bypassing a zone here, or see how to bypass multiple zones here.
